Stickup at the box office

Let's hope that Ice Cube's new movie All About the Benjamins isn't all about stealing your money, too. Cube co-wrote, co-produced and co-stars as a Miami bounty hunter tailing a bail jumper (Mike Epps, How High) when both stumble upon a diamond heist. Somehow, the issue of a lost lottery ticket also figures into the mix, probably for the obligatory happy ending. The whole affair sounds (and appears in preview trailers) like a loud, violent, half-baked caper turning ticketbuyers into easy marks. Cube is one of the most successful film entrepreneurs to emerge among rap musicians, even developing his own production company, CubeVision, after the surprising box office success of the crude comedy Friday. What has he done with this clout? Two Friday sequels -- Friday After Next is due at Thanksgiving -- and All About the Benjamins. That's about all you need to know.
