Harbour Island is top seller
Harbour Island in Tampa was the top-selling community last year in the Hillsborough-Pasco-Pinellas County area with 404 closings, according to Rose Residential Reports.
Filling out the top 10: Meadow Pointe (389 closings), Westchase (315), FishHawk Ranch (280), Cross Creek (242), Lexington Oaks (242), Sun City Center (239), West Meadows (225), Lexington Oaks (220) and Copper Ridge (203). No surprise: They're all in Hillsborough or Pasco, further evidence of the lack of big buildable tracts in Pinellas.
Co-op savvy
A course on the operations of Florida cooperative associations will be offered March 20 at the Holiday Inn Select in Clearwater by the Suncoast chapter of the Community Associations Institute.
The course focuses on the legal basis for co-ops, self-management, bidding process, mintenance, accounting and legal services, and planning and conducting board meetings. The Holiday Inn Select is at 3535 Ulmerton Road, Clearwater.
To reserve a seat, call Laura Hagan (727) 525-0962. For a complete list of classes, visit www.caionline.org. CAI is a nonprofit organization that provides education for owners and managers of condos, co-ops and homeowner associations.
'Green' workshop
The Hillsborough County Cooperative Extension Service will offer "Anatomy of a Home: Buy Green and Save," from 6 to 9 p.m. March 21 at its office in Seffner.
The class will educate potential buyers about what to look for in a well-built, environmentally sustainable home. Speakers will explain how a home is built, making a home more energy- and water-efficient, landscaping that uses less water, and where to apply for energy-efficient mortgages.
The class is free, but registration is required. Call Lisa Leslie at (813) 744-5519, ext. 143. The extension office is at 5339 County Road 579 in Seffner.
