Man installing ceiling fan electrocutedBy Times staff writer© St. Petersburg Times published March 10, 2002 INVERNESS -- A 25-year-old Winter Haven man was electrocuted Saturday as he tried to install a ceiling fan in the attic of his fiancee's house. The man, whose name was not released by authorities pending notification of his family, was pounding a nail into the ceiling when he apparently struck a live wire, Citrus County sheriff's Cpl. Jason Shephard said. Another person at the residence heard a sharp cry but assumed the man had hit himself with the hammer, Shephard said. When he went to check, the man was unconscious. Sheriff's deputies were summoned to the house at 3171 E Bryant St. about 1 p.m. Paramedics performed CPR, but the man was pronounced dead shortly after he reached Citrus Memorial Hospital, Shephard said. The man had been visiting his fiancee and her parents, Shephard said. An autopsy will be performed, he said. © 2006 • All Rights Reserved • St. Petersburg Times
