SEMINOLE -- The city has hired a building official from South Carolina to fill a similar position in Seminole.

Willie Herbert, who has worked for the cities of Hartsville, S.C., and Roswell, Ga., starts Monday as Seminole's code administrator/building official. His annual salary is $48,360.

Herbert, who was self-employed for the past year, was the chief building official in Hartsville from 1988 to 1998 and in Roswell from 1999 to 2001.

He will be responsible for supervising building inspections and ensuring compliance with a variety of city codes. Also, the city's Building Division has moved from the fire station on 113th Street to the General Services Department at City Hall.
