    Woman killed last week identified

ST. PETERSBURG -- Police have identified the woman slain late Thursday as Katherine Green Hicks, 50.

Detectives say Hicks was killed by her 43-year-old boyfriend, Jerome S. Brown. He was arrested Friday and is charged with second-degree murder.

Police say Brown stabbed Hicks with a kitchen knife during an argument at their home at 11451/2 16th Ave. S.

Investigators did not release Hicks' name until Tuesday because her relatives had to be notified of her death.

Homicide Sgt. Mike Puetz described the couple as transients with minor arrest histories.
