EASTSIDE ELEMENTARY: The school will hold a kindergarten roundup today from 9:15-10:15 a.m. and Monday from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. For more information, call 797-7045, ext. 278.

SUNCOAST ELEMENTARY: The school advisory council meets today at 6 p.m. in the media center.

SPRING HILL ELEMENTARY: The school's family resource center will offer a homework skills workshop for parents of second-graders today at 6 p.m. in room 120. Parents interested in attending should contact Mini Ferrazano at 797-7030, ext. 266, for information.

MOTON ELEMENTARY: The school advisory council meets April 2 at 5:15 in the media center.

PINE GROVE ELEMENTARY: The school advisory council will meet Mar. 21 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. in the media center.

ACTIVE PARENTING WORKSHOPS: The Exceptional Student Education program is sponsoring a series of parent workshops dealing with child behavior at locations throughout the county during the school year. The six-week sessions are free to everyone, but those attending must register in advance because of seating limitations. For information, call Doris Gero at 797-7022.

NEWSMAKERS

Central High juniors Joe Caciopp, Aaron Roth and Eric Ruoff were recently selected to be delegates at the Boys State legislative workshop in Tallahassee in June. The three will join students from around the state at a weeklong conference held at Florida State University. In addition, Central junior Brianna Mahoney was selected as a representative to this year's Girls State convention. Two other students, Jessica Villican and Chivone Weyde, were chosen as alternate delegates.

Hernando High seniors Steven Cassell and Kimberlee Olmstead have been selected as this year's Army Reserves National Scholar Athletes. The award recognizes student athletes who have also demonstrated strong academic performance.

Hernando High junior Audra Mende has been nominated for the Governor's High School All-Star Award and will attend a luncheon ceremony at the Governor's Mansion later this month.

Central High senior Stave Marmol has been named Hernando County's recipient of the Hacer Scholarship for Hispanic students. The $2,290 scholarship, which is underwritten by Ronald McDonald House Charities, is awarded to one Hernando County student each spring.

Hernando High sophomore Heather Solomon has been selected to attend the annual Hugh O'Brien Youth Leadership conference this spring.
