Warhawks no match for Falcons this year

DUNEDIN -- The idea is hypothetical. This year's Dunedin team versus last year's Seminole team. Baseball Weekly's third best team in the country this week versus last year's national champion.

Dunedin coach Tom Hilbert prefers to focus on the here and now.

Wednesday, his Falcons (12-0) beat Seminole 11-2 at Grant Field.

"There are some similarities and then there are also some differences," Hilbert said when asked if this year's Falcons are better than last season's Warhawks. "You really can't say one way or the other."

Seminole starting pitcher Paul Buhrow kept the Falcons in check through four innings. Brian Campbell doubled off of Falcons starter Jamie Garris, driving in Grant Massie in the first inning for a 1-0 lead. Rick Nolan drove in Phil Weylie to give the Warhawks a 2-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning.

Buhrow gave up a fifth-inning leadoff home run to Dunedin's Steve Doetsch and left the game in position for the win after being replaced by Cody Reed.

But Dunedin wasn't giving up that easily.

Dunedin scored the tying run in the fifth inning and then pounded out four hits for nine runs in the sixth to blow the game open.
