Secret Service looks into attempted bus purchase

SAN ANTONIO -- The Secret Service is investigating a man being held at county jail in Land O'Lakes under the name John Doe, according to Pasco County sheriff's deputies.

Deputies said the man tried to purchase a 45-foot coach bus for $444,978.14 with a counterfeit document. The Secret Service investigates counterfeit cases.

The 30-year-old man said his name was Richard Wilson until two years ago when he changed it to El-Wahid Ali-Bey, according to a report. He has a "Richard Jr." tattoo on his right shoulder.

Deputies said he sent a certified payment to the bus' lienholder, a financial company in California. The company tried to deposit the payment and discovered it was fake.

"John Doe" told deputies he printed the document on his computer and for identification he used a passport from the Dominion of Melchizedek and an international traveler identification card, the report states.

The man, who gave deputies an address in Windmere, was arrested Friday evening when he went to pick up the bus at Marathon Coach, 11623 Corporate Lake Blvd. in San Antonio. He faces a charge of first-degree grand theft, deputies said.

The man's bail was set at $100,000 when he was booked into jail on Friday, deputies said.

Brooksville man arrested after stabbing at party

NEW PORT RICHEY -- A 24-year-old Brooksville man was arrested Saturday morning in the stabbing of another man with a box cutter, Pasco County sheriff's deputies said.

Eric Diaz of 10336 Noddy Tern Road faces a charge of aggravated battery, deputies said.

Deputies searched for Diaz on Saturday morning after a 6:30 a.m. stabbing during a party at 6620 Sutherland Drive. He was arrested about 8:15 a.m. at Congress Food Mart, 7510 Congress St.

Deputies said he stabbed William Reed in the neck with a box cutter. Reed was flown to St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa, where he was in fair condition Saturday, a hospital spokesman said. That means Reed's health indicators were favorable and he was conscious but may not have been comfortable.

Deputies said the house party started after a trip to Planet Xtreme, a club at 1040 U.S. 19.

Diaz said he stabbed Reed in self-defense, according to deputies. Diaz was being held Saturday at county jail in Land O'Lakes in lieu of $10,000 bail.
