By Times staff writer Rest of John-Joel tour scrappedBilly Joel and Elton John have postponed the rest of their U.S. concert dates together to allow Joel to recover from an illness. The two were scheduled to play Monday night at Madison Square Garden, five dates in Uniondale, N.Y., and three in East Rutherford, N.J. Joel's spokeswoman, Claire Merucuri, said the singer was being treated for an inflamed vocal cord and an upper respiratory infection. The shows will be rescheduled in the next day or so, she said. 'Ice Age' sets recordIce Age, the animated buddy flick about a woolly mammoth, a sloth and a saber-toothed tiger, took in $46.3-million, a record for a movie opening in March. Resident Evil, starring Milla Jovovich in an adaptation of the video games, debuted in second place with $17.7-million. The cop comedy Showtime, with Robert De Niro and Eddie Murphy, premiered at No. 3 with $15-million. Accused Ryan stalker pleadsJohn Hughes, the man who broke into a Malibu, Calif., home looking for Meg Ryan, whom he has said is his wife, pleaded no contest to charges of trespassing. He will be sentenced Thursday. Hughes took the plea Friday after he was found competent to stand trial. Asolo Theatre season setThe Asolo Theatre's 2002-03 season opens Nov. 1 with Inherit the Wind in Mertz Theatre at Florida State University Center for the Performing Arts in Sarasota. The rest of the schedule, announced Monday, includes Brighton Beach Memoirs by Neil Simon; You Never Can Tell by George Bernard Shaw; A Christmas Carol by Dickens; The Corn is Green by Emilyn Williams; Filumena by Eduardo de Philippo; and The Philadelphia Story by Philip Barry. The FSU/Asolo Conservatory also announced its lineup for next season, in the smaller Cook Theatre: The Blue Room by David Hare; Le Malade Imaginaire (The Imaginary Invalid) by Moliere; The Heiress by Ruth and Augustus Goetz; and a new play by Mark Wheatley.
