John Anderson slips into town
John Anderson is known as the "Comeback Kid" and for good reason: His pain-drenched vocal on I'm Just An Old Chunk of Coal (But I'm Gonna Be A Diamond Someday) was a big hit, as was the twangy Swingin,' in the 1970s, but, during the next decade Anderson disappeared.
Anderson, born 47 years ago near Orlando, caught ears again in the 1990s with the hit Seminole Wind, a duet with the late, great Waylon Jennings, and with a return to form that pleased Nashville. But, in typical Anderson fashion, he spent the last decade slipping in and out of the spotlight.
John Anderson, above, performs at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Round Up, 13918 W Hillsborough Ave., Tampa. $17. (813) 855-1464 or (813) 287-8844.
