    Suspect accused of watching woman in her shower

    LARGO -- A Largo woman taking a shower Wednesday night received quite a surprise when she got out: A man was standing in her home. The woman told the man, who has previous convictions for being a peeping Tom and for indecent exposure, to get out of her apartment. Police say they arrested the man, Steve Thurman Bryant, 47, of 555 Belcher Road S, No. 105, on a burglary charge. The victim told police she had left her door open because a friend was coming over. When she got out of the shower about 6:30 p.m. and opened the bathroom door, Bryant was standing there, police said. The woman told him to get out. He paused and then exited, police said.

    Man arrested in beating of child, hitting pregnant family member

    LARGO -- A man was arrested Thursday night on charges that he tied up a boy with a shoelace, blindfolded him, whipped him on the buttocks with an electrical cord and grabbed and squeezed the boy's nose. Schralton L. Johnson, 36, was charged with aggravated child abuse. Police reports indicate Johnson is from Orlando, though the abuse occurred near Largo. Reports did not indicate the reason for the abuse or the age of the boy. The whipping caused welts and swelling, reports state. Johnson also was charged with aggravated battery and battery. Deputies said he pushed, choked and struck in the face a pregnant family member. He also struck another family member's face, deputies said.
