Crazy for bubbles at the Bubble Festival

Most of us just love popping bubble wrap. Now is your chance to pop away till your heart's content.

You can also learn how to make bubble solution and wands at home, participate in the creation of a large bubble mural, encase yourself in a bubble and create flat and monster bubbles and make a bubble "bomb."

Watch a demonstration of freezing bubbles, prisms and rainbows, surface tension and how to predict when bubbles will pop and learn about bubbles in nature and space. Enter contests to see who can make the longest monster bubble, who can blow the most bubbles and the biggest bubble along with a relay race with bubbles.

The event is Saturday at the Museum of Science and Industry, 4801 E Fowler Ave. It is open to the public and included in museum admission. For information, call 987-6100.

Kids can take a crack at hunting down eggs

Hop over to Kid City's fifth annual springtime eggstravaganza. Egghunts are held throughout the day for children ages 1 and older. Join in making arts and crafts or see Peter Rabbit in two parades at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Children can have their photos taken in the cabbage patch for $2.

The event is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Kid City, Children's Museum of Tampa, 7550 North Blvd. Parking is free at the museum. Admission is $6 for children 2 and older, $4 for adults, $1 for Kid City children members and free for Kid City adult members and children younger than 2. Light snacks and beverages will be available for a nominal fee. For information, call 935-8441.

Indulge in fruit of the vine at annual wine festival

Enjoy a variety of nearly 100 wines, live entertainment and excellent food during the fifth annual grapevine wine festival.

Presented by the Grapevine at Westchase, Aston Gardens at Tampa Bay and Luna di Mare of the Wyndham Harbour Island Hotel, event proceeds will benefit the Children's Home. The festival is from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Club at Aston Gardens at Tampa Bay, 12951 W Linebaugh Ave., east of Racetrack Road. Tickets are $25 per person or $45 per couple. Grandson leaves the nest in comedy production

Carrollwood Players presents Over the River and Through the Woods by Joe Peitro. This comedy tells the story of a young man who tries to tell his aging, close-knit family oriented grandparents that he is accepting a job on the other side of the country.

The production is directed by Carlyn Postle and stars Henry Bardi, Maryann Bardi, Anna Maria Gentile, Lenny Germinaro, Miguel Rodriguez and Ericka Wyant.

Performances are at 8 p.m. today and Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday. The play continues through April 13 at Plantation Plaza, 4333 Gunn Highway, just north of Linebaugh Avenue. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for seniors and students. For information, call 265-4000.

Fling into fashion at society fundraiser

See the latest and hottest fashions from Cache and Chico's while pampering yourself with some purchases. This "Society Spring Fling" is sponsored by the Suncoast Chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Items available for purchase are from Coiffer Inga Salon, In Touch Massage Therapy, Affordable Outcall Massage Service, Creative Memories, Longaberger Baskets and Pottery, Mary Kay Cosmetics and Pampered Chef. There will be prizes and refreshments.

Proceeds will benefit numerous patient support services and research programs. The fling is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at University Community Hospital Carrollwood, 7171 N Dale Mabry Highway. Tickets are $5 per person. For information, call 963-6461.
