Oklahoma senior Jared Frayer was one win from becoming the first wrestler from Pinellas County and only the second from Florida to win a Division I national title.

Wrestling in the 149-pound class, Frayer, a former Countryside standout, advanced to the finals at the NCAA tournament in Albany, N.Y. He lost to Minnesota's Jared Lawrence 3-1.

Still, Frayer earned All-America status for the second consecutive season and placed higher than any other wrestler from Pinellas County.
