    Achievers

    Andrew Putnam Lawrence, a senior at Dunedin High School, was awarded the DAR Good Citizens Award by the Caladesi Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. The award recognizes high school seniors who demonstrate the qualities of good citizenship, including dependability, service, leadership and patriotism. He has been on the Honor Roll and Dean's List. He is a member of the National Spanish Honor Society and is captain of the wrestling team. He has volunteered at the library, at the concession stand at Highland Pool, and for Dunedin Paint Your Heart Out, Beach Clean-Up and Tour of Homes. He has participated in missionary work in Florida and North Carolina, and he plans to pursue a degree in computer engineering from the University of Florida. He is the son of John R. and Jo P. Lawrence of Dunedin.

    Ashleigh Estelle Swope, a fifth grader at Palm Harbor Elementary School, won the American Essay constest sponsored by th Saint Helena Plantation Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. The contestants were asked to pretend they were editors of the Philadelphia Gazette and write an article for the July 5, 1776 edition after interviewing two signers of the Declaration of Independence. Ashleigh received a certificate and a bronze medal. Her essay will be judged at the state level.
