CHILES ELEMENTARY: Parents, students and staff are invited to dine at Winner's Grill from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesdays throughout April. CITRUS PARK ELEMENTARY: The kindergarten roundup will be at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday in the school's media center, 7700 Gunn Highway. The Head Start roundup will be from 9 a.m. to noon April 10 in the media center. Parents should bring their child's birth certificate, proof of residency, Social Security number and immunization records. Children must be 5 years old by Sept. 1 to register for kindergarten. SICKLES HIGH: The school will host a Family Awareness Workshop from 7 to 8 p.m. April 8 in the school auditorium, 7950 Gunn Highway. The program will focus on the dangers of drinking and driving. TAMPA PALMS ELEMENTARY: The school will offer summer camp courses for students in kindergarten through Grade 6. Students may choose from a variety of courses that focus on art, cooking and games. Classes will be from 8 a.m. to noon June 10-21. Cost is $130 per class. Tuition scholarships are available for students who receive free or reduced lunch. Application deadline is April 22. WESTCHASE ELEMENTARY: The school's Battle of the Books competition will be at 8:15 a.m. Wednesday in the multipurpose room, 9517 W Linebaugh Ave. The academic awards assemblies for the third report period will be Thursday at 8:15 a.m. for Grade 4 and 9:15 a.m. for Grade 3 and on Friday at 8:15 a.m. for Grade 2 and 9:15 a.m. for Grade 1. ESSAY CONTEST: Students in Grades 1 through 12 may enter this year's "Tampa Father of the Year" essay contest. Participants should write an essay on "What My Father Means To Me." Winners and runners-up will be selected from each grade level and will be eligible for selection as one of five essay finalists by the National Center of Fathering. Submission deadline is April 16.
