Deni Elliot, professor of ethics and director of the Practical Ethics Center at the University of Montana in Missoula, will present ADVILLE 2002: A Ten-Year Analysis of Stereotypes in Advertising, a slide presentation, at 6 p.m. Monday at Davis Hall, Room 130. He also will speak on The Ethical Classroom: the Ethics of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education at noon Wednesday at the Florida Center for Teachers. USF's Institute on Black Life will host a World African Community Relationships Conference on Thursday and Friday at the Phyllis P. Marshall Center. Issues to be addressed include the impact of HIV and AIDS in Africa, prenatal care in South Africa, the role of women musicians in the struggle in South Africa, African-American family in television and men in families in the Caribbean. Randall Robinson, president of TransAfrica, will deliver the keynote address at 7 p.m. Thursday, and Sheila Sisulu, South Africa's Ambassador to the the United States, will be on hand for a lunch at noon Friday. Both events will take place in the Marshall Center ballroom. The Institute also will host a Community Outreach Day for parents and prospective college students from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday at Riverfront Park, 1000 North Blvd, Tampa. There will be music and ethnic foods and information on applying to college, financial aid and job preparation.
