Roam free

This is the year of wireless, no question about it. Cellular companies are scrambling to get their act together with speeds better than dialup and promises of faster speeds "soon." The real action, though, is with a technology sometimes known as WiFi. It gives you local area network-like speeds but with a short range. We've talked about companies such as Boingo in the past, but it's little more than another Internet service provider. Sputnik, though, will give you free access to any wireless points it operates if you open up yours for public use. If you've got an old computer lying around and your ISP is cool with the thought, it's a great idea.

Daisy, Daisy ...

Sometimes more is better, like pizza, money, good friends and free cellular air time. Bikes don't really spring to mind when you think more. But after seeing this odd contraption, you might change your mind. Imagine taking six of your closest friends for a Sunday morning spin and have a good face to face chat while pedaling. Okay, it's an absurd mode of transportation but it really looks like it would be lots of fun for at least five minutes.

Lost and found

www.StuffBak.com/

People are basically honest. That's why eBay can do what it does and that's why a service such as StuffBak might work. If you were out for a walk and found a cell phone, what would you do with it? Spend a bunch of time trying to figure out which provider's network it was on, then attempt to give it back? That is a big hassle and time-waster, for sure. But imagine seeing a small sticker on the device listing an 800 number that would make it pain free to give the item back. A bonus for gadget owners is this service doesn't cost much money until you have an item returned to you. You have to pay a modest charge for labels, though.

True solitude

Dealing with a toilet that's not owned and policed by She Who Must Be Obeyed is an exercise fraught with potential terror. There are many things I love and admire about the woman, but her surgical precision warfare on household grime is a force to hold in awe. So, when on-the-go and needing to go, a guide to pristine conveniences would be invaluable. This site just lists the creme de la creme but making a subconscious mental note of each might fend off potty peril later on.

Google-eyed

www.Google.com/holidaylogos.html

My consciousness filters itself through Google as yours may well do. While I hardly pause to smell the roses, I am often in admiration of the artwork it rotates on special events such as St. Patrick's Day and the Olympics. It's a cute way to entertain half a second at a time. Here's a good chance to wind back time and peek at the logos Google has used in the past.
