Student musicians from public and private middle and high schools around Pinellas County will jazz it up as part of the Festival of States with a concert at 7:30 p.m. April 8 at the Mahaffey Theater in St. Petersburg.

Tickets to the concert, which will feature the Middle School Honor Band, Middle School Jazz Band and High School Honor Band, are $5 for adults and $3 for students and will be available at the box office. Musicians audition to be in these bands.

Former Seminole High band director Michael C. Robinson, currently the director of bands at Fort Hays State University in Kansas, will direct the high school group. Wayne Gallops, the former director of bands at Howard Blake School in Tampa and currently a graduate assistant at the University of South Florida, will lead the middle school band, and Oak Grove Middle School band director Tony Fuoco will lead the jazz band.
