Gifford settles 'brat' suitKathie Lee Gifford has settled a lawsuit with the National Examiner over a story saying the formerLive with Regis and Kathie Lee co-host had turned her 12-year-old son into a brat. Gifford and her husband, former Monday Night Football announcer and NFL star Frank Gifford, reached an out-of-court, confidential settlement with the Boca Raton-based tabloid about three months ago, said Deborah Drooz, the couple's attorney. Drooz declined to say whether the Giffords were satisfied. Examiner spokesman Gerald McKelvey said the tabloid was. The Giffords sued for libel in April 2000 over a February story headlined "Kathie Lee Wrecking Cody's Life! Pushy Mom's Creating a Monster." The story said the boy cried at a record store because it had no Britney Spears albums, spit up partially chewed squid at a restaurant and colored on a pair of pants for sale at an exclusive children's store. Gifford lawyers argued that none of the alleged incidents happened. The Examiner published a retraction last August. TV notesCancellation roundup: CBS axed its Friday weekly rerun of The Amazing Race on UPN, ending an experiment that seemed to aggravate more people than watched the show on the sister network. UPN ended its Under One Roof, and Fox pulled The American Embassy before airing the final two episodes, which had been scheduled back-to-back for Monday. . . . The Baywatch reunion movie is back on, for November. Star-producer David Hasselhoff said Fox will air the two-hour show, which will feature 20 actors from Baywatch and Baywatch Hawaii. . . . Broadcast and cable news outlets are showing healthy ratings increases over last year, offering networks hope that Sept. 11 got more people into the habit of watching news regularly. Moore buriedA small group of family and friends gave a modest send-off Tuesday to Dudley Moore, the puckish pianist who became an unlikely Hollywood sex symbol after starring in 10 and Arthur. Moore died March 27 at 66 of pneumonia after a long battle with a rare, degenerative Parkinson's-like disease.
