TAMPA -- Hillsborough County Fire Rescue crews responded to a fire at the Tampa Electric Co.'s Gannon Power Station in Port Sutton early Wednesday.
Officials originally thought the station's coal room was on fire, and they called more than a dozen engines to the scene. The fire started about midnight.
By 12:45 a.m., at least 60 firefighters were at the station, at 3602 Port Sutton Road, and more were arriving.
Officials said a conveyor belt that transports coal at the facility was on fire and in danger of collapsing.
At least one TECO employee an seven others needed oxygen at the scene.
