Class notesBy Times staff writer© St. Petersburg Times published April 4, 2002 PINE GROVE ELEMENTARY: The school will be accepting applications for its preschool early intervention program from 9 a.m.-noon April 12. Parents need to bring their child's official birth certificate, proof of residency, income verification, Social Security number, plus proof of WAGES eligibility, guardianship/foster care and Medicaid eligibility if applicable. Call 797-7090 for further information. WEST HERNANDO MIDDLE: The school advisory council will meet at 7 p.m. April 15 in the media center. PINE GROVE ELEMENTARY: The school advisory committee will meet at 3 p.m. April 18 in the media center. ACTIVE PARENTING WORKSHOPS: The Exceptional Student Education program is sponsoring a series of parent workshops dealing with child behavior at locations throughout the county during the school year. The six-week sessions are free to everyone; however, those attending must register in advance due to limited seating. For information, call Doris Gero at 797-7022. NEWSMAKERS:Nine Hernando middle and high school students were recently recommended for the Take Stock in Children scholarship program. The students are: Annesha Anderson and Gabriella Rupisan, Powell Middle; Keshia Anthony and Taylor Austin, D.S. Parrott Middle; Kelly Cieckiewicz and Christina Anthony, Fox Chapel Middle; Amanda Baker and Apryl Robinson, West Hernando Middle; and John Baker III, Central High. Jane McDonald, a Central High School senior, last month spent a week in Washington, D.C., as a participant in the National Young Leaders' Conference. During her stay, she met U.S. Rep. Karen Thurman, D-Dunnellon, to talk about health care coverage for military retirees.
