Honors

Chamberlain girls golf coach Frank George has been named the state golf coach of the year by the National Federation Coaches Association.

George led Chamberlain to a seventh-place state finish in 2001 after winning team state titles for three consecutive years.

Basketball

Florida coach Billy Donovan canceled as the guest speaker at the Tampa Bay Basketball Coaches' Association banquet April 10.

Saint Leo coach Mike Madagan will take his place.

Donovan pulled out for personal reasons, TBBCA president and King coach John Mackey said.

The annual banquet honors the county's top players, coaches and teams. Tickets are $17 and the public is welcome.

The TBBCA's All-Star game, which features the top seniors in the area, will be held April 12 at Hillsborough Community College.

Plant coach Mike Phillips is accepting registration for Panthers Summer Basketball Camps. Session A will be for boys ages 8-12 on June 24-28. Session B will be for boys ages 11-14 on July 8-12.

Session C will be for girls ages 10-14 on July 15-19.

All camp sessions will be held from 2-4:30 p.m. and will be at the Plant gymnasium.

Registration is underway for players 6-under at the Ice Sports Forum in Brandon and the Tampa Bay Skating Academy in Oldsmar. For information, call (813) 684-7825 in Brandon and (813) 854-4010 in Oldsmar.
