ALONSO HIGH: The school's baseball and softball teams are seeking players and sponsors for their fundraising golf tournament April 28 at the Country Club of Carrollwood. Shotgun start is 1:30 p.m. Cost is $100 per player, which includes competition, awards and dinner. Proceeds will be used for school sporting equipment. For information, call Denise at 891-1771.

CHILES ELEMENTARY: The school's dedication ceremony will begin at 4 p.m. today. The event will include an open house and chorus performance. Chiles Elementary is at 16541 Tampa Palms Blvd. W. Parents, students and staff are invited to dine at Winner's Grill from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesdays throughout April. The restaurant at 16023 Tampa Palms Blvd. W will donate 20 percent of food sales to the fifth-grade celebration. Just tell your server you want your meal credited to Chiles Elementary School. CITRUS PARK ELEMENTARY: The Head Start roundup will be 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday in the school media center, 7700 Gunn Highway. Parents should bring their child's birth certificate, proof of residency, Social Security number and immunization records. For information, call 558-5356.

ESSRIG ELEMENTARY: The kindergarten roundup will be at 8:30 a.m. Friday in the school cafeteria, 13131 Lynn Turner Road. ESSAY CONTEST: Students in grades 1 through 12 may enter this year's "Tampa Father of the Year" essay contest. Participants should write an essay on "What My Father Means To Me." Winners and runners-up will be selected from each grade level and will be eligible for selection as one of five essay finalists by the National Center of Fathering. Submission deadline is April 16.
