WHAT: Short-track races in the Open Wheel Modified, Street Stock, Outlaw Late Model, Mini Stock, Figure 8 and Enduro classes.

WHEN: Grandstands open at 5 p.m. Kids rides are at 6, and racing is scheduled to start at 7. WHERE: 4500 Ulmerton Road (State Road 688).

ADMISSION: Adults, $10; children 6-12, $4; children under 6, free; parking, free.

NOTES: Tonight's action falls between two large events on the track's schedule: last week's Figure 8 Championship and next week's Bud Light 100 Late Model Championship. Tonight's card may seem like small potatoes, but all the classes have leaders with margins of 16 points or less. Figure 8 front-runner Ron Davis (No. 89, Pinellas Park) is a point ahead of Mark Thomas (No. 40, Pinellas Park), who leads Cliff Rousseau by only five. Street Stock's Earl Bowman (No. 20, Pinellas Park) leads 2001 champion Roger Welch (No. 98, St. Petersburg) by 10 points, with the third and fourth positions tied and two points below Welch. Ed Kidd (No. 6, Pinellas Park) is atop the Outlaw division by five points. Chet Senokossoff (No. 6, Pinellas Park) and Darren Jackson (No. 7, Lakeland) are 16 points apart in Modified. Dennis Valdez (No. 40, Tampa) has a 15-point Mini Stock edge.
