Police seek man in 5 bank heists since March 15By Times staff writer© St. Petersburg Times published April 17, 2002 TAMPA -- Police are searching for a man who has robbed five banks in the past month. During each robbery, the suspect walked into the bank, approached the teller and demanded cash. He is described as a black man, between 35 and 40 years old, 150 pounds, with a mustache and light beard. He wears light tinted glasses, a baseball cap and usually a light colored shirt. The first robbery happened at Mercantile Bank at 4202 W Kennedy Blvd. on March 15; that bank also was robbed April 1, authorities said. The First Union Bank at 4950 W Kennedy Blvd. was robbed April 9.
