HONOR ROLL ADDITION: Pope John Paul II Catholic School recognizes fifth-grader Michelle Canete for achieving the A/B honor roll for the third marking period.

STUDENT PLACES FIRST AT STATE COMPETITION: Crystal River High School Health Academy student Tim Webb placed first in speech during the recent Health Occupational Students of America state competition in Jacksonville. He is now eligible for the national competition in Anaheim, Calif. in June. Tim is the son of Jerold and Marie Webb of Crystal River.

NEWSPAPER WINS HONOR: Central Florida Community College's student newspaper, The Patriot Press, recently won an honorable mention for community college newspapers at Florida Leader magazine's 13th annual Best of Florida Schools competition. The honor was awarded to the 2001 fall semester newspaper staff, which was led by editors Christina McClain and Greg Vickers as well as faculty adviser Dava Tobey.
