Class notesBy Times staff writer© St. Petersburg Times published April 18, 2002 PINE GROVE ELEMENTARY: The school will be accepting applications for its preschool early intervention program Friday from 9 a.m.-noon. Parents need to bring their child's official birth certificate, proof of residency, income verification, Social Security number, plus proof of WAGES eligibility, guardianship/foster care and Medicaid eligibility if applicable. Call 797-7090 for further information. POWELL MIDDLE: The school advisory council will meet Friday at 6 p.m. in the media center. PINE GROVE ELEMENTARY: The school advisory committee will meet April 18 at 3 p.m. in the media center. EASTSIDE ELEMENTARY: The school will hold a parent workshop, "Transition To Middle School," April 30 at 6 p.m. in the library. CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL SCHEDULING: Current students in eighth grade at Fox Chapel, Powell and Parrott middle schools who will attend Central High School in the fall and their parents are set to meet in Central's gymnasium today to schedule ninth-grade classes. Materials may be picked up from 6 to 6:30 p.m. A short program will follow, and then parents and students can discuss selections with counselors and representatives from the various departments. A minicurriculum guide and invitation were mailed to all prospective Central students. Any private school students who plan to attend Central as freshmen are invited, as are West Hernando Middle School students who missed the April 10 meeting. PREKINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION: The following elementary schools will hold early prekindergarten registration on the following days: April 19 -- Floyd Elementary (9 a.m.-noon); April 29 -- Westside Elementary (10 a.m.-1 p.m.); May 3 -- Deltona Elementary (9:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m.). Parents should bring the child's official birth certificate, proof of residency, income verification, child's Social Security card, plus Medicaid card and WAGES eligibility letter if applicable. ACTIVE PARENTING WORKSHOPS: The Exceptional Student Education program is sponsoring a series of parent workshops dealing with child behavior at locations throughout the county during the school year. NEWSMAKERS:Parrott Middle seventh-grader Jordan Lee was recently named a winner in the Duke University Talent Search.
