TAMPA -- Class 6A No. 1 Bloomingdale was expected to have its hands full Wednesday in a Western Conference semifinal against Tampa Bay Tech.

It wasn't even close.

The Titans scored eight runs in one inning against Bulls ace Stacey Bronson on their way to a 12-1 victory in five innings.

"I guess in four years of playing for us, Stacey deserves one game like this," Bloomingdale coach Mike Claman said. "But she didn't lose this one by herself. She had a lot of help."

The Bloomingdale defense committed three errors playing behind their struggling ace.

With the score tied 1-1 in the third inning, the Titans scored eight runs and forced Bronson to the bench for the first time in her prep career. In the top of the fifth, TBT added three runs to finish the scoring.

"We were hitting today and this was a big moral victory for us," Tech coach Keensha Parham said. "We have a few teams on our schedule that help us get ready for the postseason and this tournament now will give us two. Tomorrow will be a tough game."

Chamberlain also won by the 10-run mercy rule, beating Plant 10-0 in six innings in the second game. The Chiefs and Titans will meet at 7 tonight in the final at Plant.

Chamberlain's Amanda Cody got the win, running her record to 16-3.

The Chiefs scored one run in the first, three in the second and added five in the third for an early 9-0 lead.

In the bottom of the sixth, Chamberlain's Krista Holle singled, stole second and third, and came home on a wild pitch to end the game.
