By Times Staff Golf tournament to benefit charityCROSS CREEK -- Register now for the sixth annual charity golf tournament sponsored by the Rotary Club of New Tampa. The April 27 fundraiser is at the Heritage Isles Golf & Country Club, 10630 Plantation Bay Drive. Proceeds will benefit the New Tampa Rotary Foundation, which supports a variety of local charities. Sponsorships are available. Teams of four will compete; cost is $90 a person. Registration begins at 11 a.m. followed by lunch at 12:30 p.m., with a shotgun start at 1:30 p.m. A buffet dinner begins at 6:30 p.m. To register, call Gordy Larson at 972-2028 or any Rotary member. Bar association sponsors tournamentCARROLLWOOD -- The Carrollwood Community Bar Association is registering golfers for its April 26 charity scramble golf tournament. The tournament begins with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. at Northdale Golf and Country Club, 4417 Northdale Blvd. Play will include contests for hole in one, closest to the pin and longest drive as well as a raffle, silent and live auctions and an evening awards dinner. Proceeds will benefit All Sports Community Service, a nonprofit organization that supplies mentors and college scholarships for deserving students. Youth league seeks players, cheerleadersCROSS CREEK -- The New Tampa Wildcats still have openings for youth football and cheerleading. There are four age-weight divisions ranging from 7-15 years old, with a limited number of positions on each roster. Participants will be registered on a first-come, first-served basis. Parents need the child's birth certificate, a wallet size photo and proof of residency. Proof of a 2002 medical physical will be required by June 1. The cost of $200 includes registration and a fundraising contribution. Parents will also be required to complete and sign a volunteer, fundraising and code of conduct form. Summer soccer camps set for ages 5-15KEYSTONE -- Hillsborough County United has scheduled five co-ed soccer camps for players ages 5 through 15. Camps will be from 9 a.m. to noon June 3-7, June 10-14, June 24-28, July 8-12 and July 15-19. Register before May 7 and the cost is $90 per player, per week; $100 after May 7. Country club offers tennis camp for kidsCARROLLWOOD -- The Country Club of Carrollwood is registering students for its summer tennis camp, which begins June 3. The club offers programs for various age groups and experience levels. The tots program provides 4-7 year olds an introduction to tennis. Juniors, ages 8-18, work on individual skills and match play. The focus in the advanced juniors program for players 8-18 is on strategy, technical skills and competitive play. Nine sessions will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. weekdays through Aug. 2. Coach Chris Cary said a perk of the program is the cool-down swim in the club pool at the end of the camp day. Cost is $120 per weekly session for country club members, $150 for guests.
