The Super Seven

With last week's ranking in parenthesis

1. (1) Dunedin (26-0) -- Couple of close ones this week, including a 2-1 nail-biter over Palm Harbor University. Games like that show the Falcons' mettle.

2. (2) Clearwater Central Catholic (24-1) -- The victory over Tampa Jesuit, which two days later beat Palm Harbor 11-1, might have cemented the Marauders' place as a Class 2A state final probable.

3. (3) Northside Christian (24-2) -- Not that the Mustangs needed it, but one of their better hitters, David Scott, returned from an injury. Now, how do you squeeze the guy in that lineup?

4. (4) East Lake (22-4) -- The Eagles won their only game last week and enter districts with a target on their backs in highly competitive Class 5A, District 9.

5. (5) Seminole (19-6) -- The Warhawks are good enough to get to the playoffs, but can they repeat last year's state title?

6. (6) Pinellas Park (18-7) -- Won the game it needed to against Lakewood to earn a spot in the PCAC title game.

7. (7) Countryside (13-10) -- The Cougars beat state-ranked Godby and have knocked off Northside Christian. Now they need to find a way to play that way every night from here on out.
