    County leader will discuss future of North Pinellas

    PALM HARBOR -- Pinellas County Administrator Steve Spratt will discuss the future of unincorporated North Pinellas County, particularly Palm Harbor and the East Lake corridor, at 8 a.m. April 30 in the community room of the Palm Harbor Library, 2330 Nebraska Ave.

    After 25 years working in Miami-Dade County government, the last four as assistant county manager, Spratt became Pinellas's county administrator in December.

    A question and answer session will follow Spratt's remarks. The county's new touch screen voting machines will be displayed until 10 a.m. The Friends of the Library will provide light refreshments.

    Oldsmar chamber job fair Tuesday at Holiday Inn

    OLDSMAR -- The Oldsmar Chamber of Commerce is co-hosting a free job fair from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Holiday Inn Express Hotel and Suites, 3990 Tampa Road.

    The fair will offer a free resume review service, online job search and the opportunity to talk to representatives from Wal-Mart, Baycare Health System, West Bay Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Morton Plant Mease Hospital, SDI Diagnostic Imaging, Genesis Manufacturing, Reptron, Metal Industries and Direct Connect Communications.

    There also will be information on mass transit and commuting, child care and opportunities at St. Petersburg College and the Pinellas Technical Educational Center.

    Historian to discuss U-boats in Gulf of Mexico

    PALM HARBOR -- Historian Martin K.A. Morgan will give a lecture titled "An Evil Reputation: The U-Boat Assault Against the Gulf Of Mexico" from 3 to 5:30 p.m. today at the Palm Harbor Library, 2330 Nebraska Ave.

    Morgan will discuss the 1942 U-boat campaign in the Gulf of Mexico and U-166, a submarine that was recovered off the coast of Louisiana last year. He works for the National D-Day Museum in New Orleans and is an expert on U-boats. The presentation is free and open to the public.

    Montessori fundraiser to benefit new middle school

    Palm Harbor Montessori Academy will host its annual fundraiser May 4, with a reception at 6 p.m., followed by an art auction at 7, at the Crescent Oaks Country Club.

    The school's honorary chairman for the event will be R. Lynn Whitelaw, director of the Leepa-Rattner Museum of Art at the Tarpon Springs campus of St. Petersburg College.

    Palm Harbor senior center plans variety of activities

    PALM HARBOR -- The April schedule for the Palm Harbor Senior Activity Center, 1500 16th St., includes:

    Line dancing lessons from 11 a.m. to noon Mondays. The fee is $2 for center members and $3 for nonmembers.

    A dance with music by the Buddy Verdi Combo from 6:30 to 9 p.m. every Tuesday. Tickets are $6, $5 for senior center members.

    A spaghetti dinner will be served from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, with baked ziti, spaghetti, meatballs, salad, garlic bread and dessert, as well as entertainment. Reservations are required. Tickets are $6 for members, $7 for nonmembers and $3.50 for children younger than 10.

    A free ice cream social sponsored by Roy Raven of Raymond James Financial Services is from 2:30 to 3:15 p.m. Friday.

    A ladies day out sponsored by the Harbor Springs and Palm Harbor junior woman's clubs, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. The event will include free refreshments, entertainment, health screenings, a 1950s fashion show, demonstrations and door prizes.

    Registration is open for spring classes. Classes offered include introduction to computers, computer literacy, introduction to Windows, MS Works, digital photography, introduction to the Internet, tai chi and chi kung, personal life-history writing, intermediate bridge, ceramics, wheelchair exercise and beginning and intermediate Spanish.

    First Y Games set for Saturday near Trinity

    The YMCA of the Suncoast is hosting its first Y Games Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the James P. Gills Family Branch, 2228 Trinity Oaks Blvd., New Port Richey.

    Reform synagogue welcomes new members

    TARPON SPRINGS -- The Resource Center for Women offers free parenting, career development, personal growth and computer training classes at the Union Academy, 401 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.

    Palm Harbor chorus is accepting new members

    PALM HARBOR -- The Palm Harbor Community Chorus is accepting new members during rehearsals every Tuesday from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at Global Fellowship Church, 2289 N Hercules Ave., Clearwater.

    School offers computer class in Excel for adults

    PALM HARBOR -- The Palm Harbor Community School, 1900 Omaha St., will offer an adult computer class in Excel beginning April 30. It will meet from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.     Recreation department offers sports leagues

    PALM HARBOR -- Programs offered by Palm Harbor parks and recreation include:

    A 12-week co-ed softball league with games at 6:30 p.m. Fridays.

    Tae kwon do classes from 6 to 6:45 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.

    Beginning tennis lessons for children ages 8 to 18 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays or Fridays. Beginning tennis lessons for children ages 5 to 8 are 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Wednesdays.

    Accelerated tennis lessons for children 8 to 18 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays or Fridays.

    Intermediate tennis instruction for teens 13 to 18 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays.

    Adult tennis from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays and 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Sundays.
