Hot sauce lovers have new shop to dip intoBy PIPER JONES CASTILLO© St. Petersburg Times published April 24, 2002 Deborah Brown has opened Peppers on the Pass at 12813 Village Blvd., Madeira Beach. The retail business, geared toward hot sauce fans, is the second Peppers for Brown. She also owns Peppers on the Pier in St. Petersburg. "With Peppers on the Pass, I saw a very good business opportunity outside of St. Petersburg, and I took it," said Brown, who purchased her first hot sauce shop two years ago. The 400-square-foot storefront houses hundreds of hot sauces as well as kitchen decor and condiments, including hot mustard, hot pepper jelly and hot pistachios. "Once you start eating hot food, it's addicting," Brown said. Peppers on the Pass is open seven days a week. Michael and Lori Pizzuto have opened the Body Mechanix at 7109 Ninth Ave. N, St. Petersburg, a therapeutic massage business and gift shop. The Pizzutos also own a Body Mechanix in Overland Park, Kansas. Mr. Pizzuto is the founder of BMSI Institute, a vocational massage school in Kansas, and he continues to provide instruction and perform massage therapy in Overland Park several times a year. Along with her work through the original Body Mechanix, Mrs. Pizzuto served as a massage therapist at the Belleview Biltmore Resort in Clearwater and Sport Injury and Physical Therapy in St. Petersburg. Cherry and Co., 13057 Park Blvd., Suite 200, Seminole, a communications design and production firm, has been awarded gold and silver fourth district Addy Awards for design excellence. The honors were for the firm's work with Big Brothers Big Sisters and a self-promotion package. WorkNet Pinellas, Pinellas County's work force development agency, has selected DataGlyphics Inc., 449 Central Ave., St. Petersburg, to design, develop and host its new web site. Leadership Pinellas, an organization designed to provide residents with a better understanding of community functions, current problems and how they can help find solutions, will host a recruitment social from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. May 6 at Ruth Eckerd Hall, Margarete Heye Great Room, 1111 McMullen Booth Road, Clearwater. Each year, 30 to 32 men and women who live or work in Pinellas County are selected for the program from a cross-section of business, government, education, religious, civic and minority organizations.
