Two parties this weekend feature seafood, live music and a laid-back atmosphere.

At Jake's Bar and Grill, 8501 W Miss Maggie Drive, Chassahowitzka, a mound of crawfish signals the arrival of the third annual Crawfish Boil. This party starts outdoors, with Jake's owners Jack and Kelly O'Shay boiling up about 500 pounds of crawfish. There will also be free hot dogs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The crawfish are cooked and served at the pavilion outside of Jake's. Cost per serving is $7.95. There will be beer specials and an appearance by the Budweiser Girls. Piano man Johnny Lobo will entertain outdoors until the crawfish are all eaten.

After that, the festivities move indoors at Jake's, with the band Springfield Drive performing at 5 p.m. The usual menu will be available and the dining room special for Saturday is prime rib. Nighttime brings the Karaoke with CC Champagne show beginning at 9 p.m. Free admission.

Fish Fry at RV park

A fish fry and live music will be from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday at Encore Super Park, 11419 W Fort Island Trail, Crystal River.

The party is sponsored by the Citrus County Builders Association in conjunction with a fishing contest held there over the weekend. The menu is fried fish and hush puppies.

Music will be provided by Jon Semmes and The Florida Friends. Admission is $10, which includes dinner and a complimentary beverage.
