SPRING HILL -- A five-car pileup on Mariner Boulevard sent four people to area hospitals Wednesday night, authorities said.

The most seriously injured was Erin Thistle McMorrow, 17, of 9259 Pickens St. in Spring Hill. She was in critical condition at Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg late Thursday, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

Florida Highway Patrol Trooper T.R. Hall said McMorrow was driving east on Marysville Street when she ran a stop sign at Mariner Boulevard.

There, she collided with Stephen C. Blackwell, 63, of 18645 Dove Hollow Court in Hudson, who was southbound on Mariner.

McMorrow's car continued east into the path of a third car, a 1991 Chrysler driven by John B. Breden, 53, of 4400 Millwood Road in Spring Hill.

McMorrow was thrown from her car, the FHP said.

A fourth car, a 1996 Ford driven by Deborah Medders, 49, of 12902 Luxembourg Court in Spring Hill, crashed into the third.

Meanwhile, the second car traveled into the path of a fifth car, a 1999 Dodge driven by Justin Ekdahl, 22, of 16328 Donney Moore Lane in Spring Hill. In his car were Theresa and Harvey Ekdahl of the same address.

John Breden and his passenger, Elaine Breden, as well as Deborah Medders, were treated at Spring Hill Regional Hospital and released, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

No alcohol was involved in the crash, the FHP said.
