LARGO -- Raymond Tapia walked off the field after Friday's district final the same way he has in all of his eight years as Seminole Presbyterian coach: with a championship trophy.

The Lancers beat Bayshore Christian 12-2 in six innings to win the Class A, District 3 title at Indian Rocks Christian. The Lancers (18-7) outscored their two opponents 35-2 and move on to Tuesday's regional quarterfinals.

"We're peaking at the right time," Tapia said. "I know the regionals will be tougher since a couple of teams have moved down from 2A, but we could cause problems for some people."

After routing Indian Rocks Christian 23-0 on Thursday, the Lancers got more good pitching from Kim Rolly (16-7). She allowed two hits, both in the first, struck out five and walked one in throwing a complete game.

Seven of nine Lancers got hits and eight of nine scored. "We've got a lot of young players at the top of the order and some solid seniors in the middle," Tapia said. "At the beginning of the year, we were hitting the ball right at people. Now we're starting to find some gaps."

Down 2-1 in the third, the Lancers sent nine batters to the plate and scored five runs. Elizabeth Woodward, Kendra Hurless and Audrey Gilbert got hits in the inning, which included two errors.

The Lancers added another in the fourth when Megan Howells, who singled to open the inning, scored on Brittany Williams' groundout. They scored four more in the fifth as Gilbert and Rolly had consecutive singles and Ericka Womack walked two and threw two wild pitches.

The final tally came in the sixth, when Hurless singled and scored on Jessica Martinieri's game-ending double.

Bayshore (15-7) scored both of its runs in the first. Melissa Adkins singled and advanced to second on Sarah Tomlin's walk and to third on a passed ball. Womack's groundout scored Adkins, and Adria Mullaney singled to score Tomlin.

Rolly did not allow another hit after that. Her best inning was the fifth, when she struck out the side.
