McRae's pitching choices detrimental to Rays

It's time to get a new manager for the Rays. Hal McRae's philosophy works against the hustling team. Twice this week McRae pulled a starting pitcher who showed no signs of tiring.

Friday the Rays were leading 2-1 after eight innings, and McRae brought in Esteban Yan. Why not just forfeit?

Tanyon Sturtze had pitched his heart out and was not showing fatigue. It's no wonder the Rays don't have a complete game in over a year. Yan is not a closer.

Get rid of McRae and Yan. The young, improved and interesting Rays will win without these losers.
-- Michael K Davis, Dunnellon

McRae said once winning was the most important thing. If he would look over his players, he might find someone batting over .129 who could be used as a designated hitter. Felix Escalona might be a good prospect. Take the $8-million-plus player and trade him even-up for Bubba Trammell.Jim Robinson, Largo
Kevin Kelly wrote (Thursday) that despite batting .123, Greg Vaughn would remain in the lineup, unless "given a day to rest." Since he's not playing in the field and is rarely on bases, why would he be tired?
