ACCOUNTING

Gregory, Sharer & Stuart, St. Petersburg, announced the following appointments: Sheryl Kennedy, supervisor, assurance services; and Jonathan Brignall, supervisor, tax and accounting. Kennedy was an audit senior; Brignall was a tax senior.

BANKING

Steven W. Poirier has been named to the board of directors of SouthTrust Bank, Tampa. Poirier is president of AmeriPlus Inc., Oldsmar.

Northern Trust Bank, Tampa, announced the following appointments: Daniel Honegger, managing executive of the Tampa office; and Sean Maguire, vice president and portfolio manager, Belleair Bluffs office. Honegger was senior vice president and senior lending officer for Palm Beach and Martin counties; Maguire was first vice president and portfolio manager in Orlando.

CONSTRUCTION

Elizabeth Karcher has been named to the Florida Construction Industry Licensing Board. Karcher is president of Rodan Builders Inc., St. Petersburg.

Bernard G. Rethore has been named to the board of directors of Walter Industries Inc., Tampa. Rethore is chairman emeritus of Flowserve Corp., Irving, Texas.

FINANCIAL

Marcus Greene has been named senior vice president of wealth management services for William R. Hough & Co., St. Petersburg. Greene was senior vice president, affluent market manager for Wachovia Bank, St. Petersburg.

MARKETING

Mike Faraguna has been named vice president of sales and marketing for BPS Direct, Clearwater. Faraguna was president of Group Direct Marketing, Tampa.

NONPROFIT

The St. Petersburg Free Clinic, St. Petersburg, announced the following appointments: Alizza Punzalan, director of resources; and Chris Almvig, director of health care services. Punzalan was a development associate with WUSF-Ch. 16, Tampa; Almvig was director of the Alzheimer's Program at Lake Seminole Square and Freedom Square, Seminole.

REAL ESTATE

Gregory L. Morgan has been named regional director, management services for Advantis Real Estate Services Co., Tampa. Morgan was vice president of Oxford Properties, Tampa.

Pam Parisi has been named marketing manager for FishHawk Ranch and Covington Park for Newland Communities, Brandon. Parisi was community director of FishHawk Ranch.

RESEARCH

Dr. Akiko Tanaka has been named 2002 Business Woman of the Year by the Women's Symposium of the St. Petersburg Area Chamber of Commerce. Tanaka is president and co-founder of Tampa Bay Research Institute, St. Petersburg.
