By Times staff writer Bike, paddle or walk at Swamp StompCHASSAHOWITZKA -- The second annual Swamp Stomp, a wilderness biking and canoeing event, will be Saturday at Spirit Springs. The Swamp Stomp includes a 30-kilometer bike loop, 5- and 10-K runs through state preserve lands and a 16-K kayak or canoe paddle along the Chassahowitzka River. Canoe launches will be from Spirit Springs. The Eco-Challenge 1 comprises the 10-K run and 16-K paddle. Eco-Challenge 2 is a 10-K run and 30-K bike ride. A 4-mile guided nature walk begins and ends on Burnt Bridge Road. It is sponsored by the Friends of the Chassahowitzka National Wildlife Refuge.
