Yahoo! It's Woody and the gang
This year's edition of Disney on Ice puts the gang from Toy Story 2 on skates. All the toys from Andy's room in the original movie -- Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Slinky Dog, Rex, Mr. Potato Head -- are there, along with the characters from the sequel: Jessie, Bullseye and Stinky Pete.
Expect to see the characters recreate some of the memorable scenes from the movie, including traffic-cone topped toys crossing the highway and toys chasing a suitcase through the baggage area of an airport.
Performances are 7:30 p.m . today and Friday; 11 a.m., 3 and 7 p.m. Saturday; and 1 and 5:30 p.m. Sunday at the Ice Palace, 401 Channelside Drive, Tampa. Tickets are $12.50-$28.75. (813) 223-1000.
Fabulous orchids
What better place to celebrate orchids than at Sunken Gardens, the venerable St. Petersburg oasis? The gardens' regular foliage will be supplemented Sunday by thousands of orchids of all sorts from seven commercial growers.
It's a chance to look at the fabulous blossoms or to buy one and take it home. For those who want to know more, experts will give seminars throughout the day on different varieties, repotting and other orchid tricks.
The festival, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, is free with gardens admission of $7 adults, $5 seniors and $3 ages 3 to 11. Sunken Gardens is at 1825 Fourth St. N, St. Petersburg. (727) 551-3100.
