David Alan Grier at the Improv

Comedian David Alan Grier, who last appeared in Tampa last fall, not long after his TV series DAG was canceled, now plans to co-star in ABC's untitled Bonnie Hunt pilot from Touchstone TV.

Hunt will star as a talk show host in the sitcom, and Grier will play her producer on the show.

Until then, Grier -- a classically trained actor who gained fame in In Living Color -- continues to do standup. He performed a well-received showcase at this year's U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen, Colo. He also recently co-starred in TNT's King of Texas and hosted Comedy Central's Premium Blend.

Grier performs six shows this weekend at the Improv in Tampa: 8 and 10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 7 and 9 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $20 to $24. The Improv is in Centro Ybor, at 1600 E Eighth Ave., Tampa. For information and reservations, call (813) 864-4000.
