2 sessions down, one to go, on futureBy Times staff writer© St. Petersburg Times published May 4, 2002 ZEPHYRHILLS -- And the talks go on. About 30 residents showed up Thursday evening for the second of three visioning sessions about the city's future. They debated everything from public involvement to disaster preparedness, from community spirit to annexation and impact fees. Thursday's session, moderated by officials from the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council, was intended to gather strategies on how to address previously identified strengths and weaknesses of the city. While residents spent chunks of the meeting digressing into further complaints, they did hammer out some ideas about how to improve the city's livability. Now comes the hardest part. The final visioning session, planned from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, will challenge residents to devise practical ways to carry out the strategies they came up with Thursday. "It's going to be fun," council planning director Avera Wynne said of Tuesday's meeting. "We'll get them riled up." Planning council officials will take suggestions from the three sessions and make a formal presentation to the City Council on May 13.
