Sheriff's assistant faces DUI charge
By RYAN DAVIS, Times Staff Writer The executive assistant to Pasco Sheriff Bob White was arrested early Friday morning in East Lake and faces driving under the influence charges, Florida Highway Patrol troopers said. Robert Kimbrough, 59, acts as the liaison between the Sheriff's Office and the business community but is not a sworn law enforcement officer with the power to make arrests. He organizes fundraising events and coordinates with nonprofit agencies. He has been suspended with pay until the case is resolved, White said Friday morning. Kimbrough was hired in January 2001 when White took office, and makes $38,750 a year. At about 12:01 a.m. Kimbrough was stopped for speeding at East Lake Road and Forelock Drive in Pinellas County, according to a trooper report. The report states that Kimbrough had unsteady balance, alcohol on his breath and bloodshot eyes. He took two Breathalyzer tests, which showed his blood alcohol level to be .129 and .13, troopers said. Florida law presumes impairment at .08. Kimbrough was booked into Pinellas County jail. He was released at 10:26 a.m. without having to post bail. -- Times staff writer Robert Farley contributed to this report. -- Ryan Davis is the police reporter in Pasco County.
