Four Panthers qualify for state meet

Lecanto seniors Amanda Howard and Kate Wheeler qualified for state in three events to lead the Panthers to a fourth-place finish Thursday at the Region 2 meet in Titusville.

Howard set a school record and was third in the 1,600 meters (5:26.47). She took second in the 3,200 (11:59.98) and was on the third-place 4x800 team. Wheeler won the 100 hurdles (15.50), placed third in the long jump (16-73/4) and fourth in the high jump (5-0). Kylene Colasanti was fourth in the 300 hurdles (46.64). Bruce Emberley, who placed fourth in the 400 (51.30), was Lecanto's lone boys qualifier.
