TAMPA -- A woman was attacked early Saturday morning by a man who jumped into her van at an intersection and threatened to kill her before stealing the vehicle, Tampa police said.
While the 44-year-old woman was stopped near N 22nd Street and W 17th Avenue, the man opened an unlocked passenger door and ordered the woman to drive. She drove to Nebraska Avenue and Palm Street where she tried to get away about 2:30 a.m. Police said the man started punching her and threatened to rape and kill her.
The woman fought off her attacker and escaped. She was treated for a swollen arm and a black eye at St. Joseph's Hospital and released.
