Two from county named to all-academic team

Five area athletes were named Wednesday to the Florida High School Activities Association Academic All-State team. They are:

Carolynn Chin, Dixie Hollins. Chin has a 4.0 GPA and is ranked first in her class. She lettered in softball and volleyball her junior and senior years as well as flag football her senior year. She will attend Georgia Southern or Colorado and plans to study architecture.

Kimberly Dawn Conaway, Osceola. She has a 4.0 GPA and is ranked first in her class. She lettered in soccer, swimming and track her junior and senior years. She will attend Florida or Florida State and plans to study elementary education.

John L. Dicks II, Plant City. He has a 3.87 GPA and is ranked second in his class. He lettered in swimming and tennis his junior and senior years as well as cross country his junior year. He will attend Florida and study business and marketing.

Colin A. Strickland, Jesuit. He has a 4.0 GPA and is ranked third in his class. He lettered in cross country and track his junior and senior years. He will attend Yale and study political science.

Justin Travis Wortley, Wesley Chapel. He has a 3.78 GPA and is ranked sixth in his class. He lettered in football and baseball his junior and senior years. He will attend Florida.
