Focus on volunteers

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program/Pinellas Opportunity Council, 3443 First Ave. N, St. Petersburg, is in need of volunteers for Help a Child Inc.

Volunteers would supervise children from abusive and neglected homes while the parents are being interviewed in another room. References and background checks are required.

The RSVP Program is also in need of volunteers for Creative Clay Inc., a non-profit organization for developmentally challenged individuals. Volunteers will work on art projects with students.

Training is provided. For information on either program, call the RSVP office at 327-8690, ext. 22.

The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals of Pinellas County, 9099 130th Ave. N, Largo, needs volunteers interested in fostering puppies and kittens.

Pet foster parents care for these animals in their homes until they reach weight and age requirements to be adopted. Time required to care for these animals ranges from a few days to several weeks. Applicants must be 21 or older. The SPCA provides food and supplies. For information, call 586-3591, ext. 127.
