By Times staff writer Panel studying new rules for airboats meets todayBROOKSVILLE -- A task force created to recommend new airboat restrictions will meet today to discuss a proposed ordinance that would set hours of operation, mandate the use of mufflers, and establish trails and aquatic protection zones. The workshop is scheduled for 10 a.m. in the County Commission board room, 20 N Main St., Brooksville. It is open to the public. The task force is expected to review the suggestions and possibly make revisions. The County Commission has not set a date by which it wants to receive the ordinance. Lutz man killed riding bicycle on U.S. 19SPRING HILL -- A man riding a bicycle was killed on U.S. 19 south of Cortez Boulevard early Wednesday morning, the Florida Highway Patrol said. Trooper V.G. Rodriguez said a 48-year-old Lutz man, Scott Chris Donley, was driving north on U.S. 19 at about 4 a.m. when he crested over a small hill. He saw a man on a bicycle but was not able to stop in time. The cyclist died. The FHP did not release the man's name Wednesday. Rodriguez said she is still investigating and does not know if charges will be filed in the incident. The man's death was the 10th on Hernando County roads this year.
