Hudson bank robbery is 3rd in county in a week

HUDSON -- A bank in Hudson was robbed Tuesday, the third bank robbery in the county in less than a week, sheriff's deputies said.

A man held up the AmSouth bank at 14212 U.S. 19 by handing a teller a note stating that he had a bomb, deputies said. She gave him an undisclosed amount of money, and he fled.

The robbery followed one Monday in Zephyrhills and another May 2 in Port Richey. They have not been linked.

About 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, the man asked an AmSouth teller for a deposit slip, deputies said. She gave it to him, and he returned it to her with a message: "I have a bome. Knoe red."

She gave him the money and he walked casually out the door, the teller told police.

The robber was described as a bald white man, about 30 years old, with a mustache and bad teeth. He is about 5 feet 10 and weighs between 150 and 170 pounds.

Anyone with information should call Detective Pete Weekes at 1-800-854-2862, ext. 7279.

Boyfriend faces charges after woman is injured

NEW PORT RICHEY -- A man was arrested Tuesday night after witnesses said he backed up his car, pinning his girlfriend against a tow truck, police said.

Daniel Lee Gilbreath, 29, of 5825 Elm St. in New Port Richey faces charges of aggravated domestic battery and possession of drug paraphernalia, New Port Richey police said.

Shortly after 7 p.m., Gilbreath backed up while Shannon Jensen was leaning out the car's passenger window, police said. That pinned Jensen between the car and an adjacent tow truck, then knocked her under the truck, police said.

Jensen was taken to Community Hospital with cuts and other injuries, police said. A hospital spokeswoman said Jensen was treated Tuesday night and released.

Police said they found a marijuana pipe in Gilbreath's left pocket.

He was scheduled to be released Wednesday from the county jail in Land O'Lakes without having to post bail.
