Inverness official again requests retirement

INVERNESS -- Hilbert Staton is ready to retire from city government. Again. Staton, the city's director of development services, has asked City Manager Frank DiGiovanni to find a replacement so he can step down. He retired from the post in 1992 but returned in January to steer the development office while the city sought a permanent director. Staton says he's worked enough 50-hour weeks and hopes a replacement is found soon. "I wish I was 10 years younger," Staton, 66, said. "I think the city manager is an outstanding city manager and the council is a very good council and I really would have loved to work with them for a long time. But at my age, it's time to do a little more fishing."
