NORTHDALE -- Families, fun and food are the featured attractions this weekend as the Northdale Civic Association hosts its annual summertime extravaganza at the Northdale Community Center park.

The Northdale Family Fun Festival for the first time will have live music and a new "Taste of Northdale" exhibition featuring local restaurants such as Pipo's Cuban Restaurant, Beef O'Brady's, Legend's Bar and Grill and Applebee's.

All the food and Kool-Aid will be free.

The fun is 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Northdale Park recreation center; it is free to all Northdale residents and their guests.

The festival will also include athletic exhibitions and a "Crime Watch Fair," with spacewalk rides for kids.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office will be on hand with a pursuit helicopter and canine officers and their dogs.

As always, the free event will feature games and races for kids and adults.
